
This project was a "Call to Artist" entry that was put out by the City of Hapeville for artist to design a mural for the new community garden, that the local residents of Hapeville would actually paint and install. About fifty local artists entered, fifty was narrowed to five by the city's art committee and from there the community voted on the design they wanted to see at their garden and my design was selected. The vegetables and plants seen in the design create this heart shape that I used to illustrate the oneness and unity that the community garden represents. The selfless toil that locals go through not only to grow food for themselves and their families but also their neighbors is a unity that can only be found in love for your community and others. The bee that swarms the heart drives home the encompassing and togetherness that the garden promotes. The original design can best be seen in Figure 2 and the community's paint job and installation can be seen in Figure 1.
